Shopping At The Mall

by Gawaine Cowan Ross & Rio Bisbee Band

I went to work at the mall today, and could not believe my eyes

There must have been a thousand robots shopping for exercise

The program says Please step to the right and purchase everything you please

From electric aluminum foil dispensers to artificial trees

Shopping at the mall, is this a dream? Shopping at the mall, yes, it’s a scream!

Shopping at the mall, the floors are clean! Shopping at the mall, you can be serene!

Nothing is real but plastic, nothing is clean but plastic

Plastic food and plastic toys for plastic girls and plastic boys.

Plastic clothes, plastic chairs, plastic culture of plasticware

It’s a shallow world inside the mall, divorced from reality

There’s a chemical dump not far away, and rivers of DDT

The acid rain falls from the sky, but people can’t deal with that

No! It’s far too scary, and besides escaping is where it’s at

Shopping at the mall, is this a dream? Shopping at the mall, yes, it’s a scream!

Shopping at the mall, the air is clean! Shopping at the mall, you can be a queen!

Nothing is real but plastic, nothing is clean but plastic

Plastic cars, plastic homes, plastic hearts and plastic bones

Plastic boys, plastic girls, plastic people in a plastic whirled

I thought I saw Mr. Watts today and wasn’t he having fun?

Buying lots of plastic things and hiding from the sun

The sky is clear, the weather is bright, but step inside the mall

We’ll try to pick up women by the plastic waterfall

Shopping at the mall, is this a dream? Shopping at the mall, yes, it’s a scream!

Shopping at the mall, where is this life? Shopping at the mall, turn out that light!

Nothing is real but plastic, nothing is clean but plastic

Rivers filled with plastic, oceans filled with plastic

Plastic culture of plastic wares, plastic people and plastic air!

Take it away, do it today! Take it away, it’s a poison parade!

Plastic! PLASTIC!!
